“To: The Dawg Nation
I have gotten word that my post on Facebook has gotten a lot of buzz over the past week or so and there are a few things that I would like to say: Although everyone is entitled to their own opinions (even all the people who had negative things to say), I am at fault because no matter how I felt I should never have let those feeling get control of my better judgment. I should have kept it to myself and let the entire situation die down. My biggest regret about the whole thing is that it has cause so much disruption amongst the team. I forgot for a minute that I am here to get an education and play football and that pretty much is the extent of my responsibilities. I am not here to complain about the fanatics and for that I do apologize. I am a leader and I care about the guys that I lead. Believe me, I do know and understand that my teammate made a very bad decision and had to face the consequences, but I rather support him than be negative toward him. I rather help him succeed because I saw all the work that he had put in since spring and I was looking forward to seeing him play! The bottom line is that he has moved on and I’m happy he has found a place to continue his career, but the best thing for UGA football is to let this go and move forward positively. I would like to ask all the fans and supporters out there to help us with this by letting it go also. We have to continue to work hard and do our very best to get to Miami like we planned and I want all of you along for the ride.

I have a great deal of respect for Cornelius after reading this. I understood his stance from day 1 but it’s nice to hear him explain it for himself.
I agree with everything Bobby Nettles said, except his comments on Coach Richt. It is easy for all young people to get caught up in their “struggles”, whatever they may be, and not be cognizant of others, especially older people, that have experienced those same “struggles”.
Corn’s loyalty to his former teammate is admirable to some degree, but what the hell are these guys doing with guns, much less one that that had the serial number removed? Do they think the Clemson footballers are going to come down for a drive-by? These guys are athletic specimens that bench press 400 lbs and squat 700 lbs – folks that don’t need guns unless they are doing something wrong.
Corn, you may want to stop and think about who you choose for your friends. Where there is smoke, there is fire. If you are complaining about your “struggle”, please don’t be a moron and ignore the golden opportunity bestowed upon you through the SEC scholarship you enjoy.
Glad Corn (obviously) spoke with Claude Felton & the award winning SID Department at Georgia & gave an apology. He owes that to the fans, especially given his own past discretions with drinking & driving.
The problem with with these long offseasons is things like this popping up. Hopefully this situation dies down and everyone moves on.
I am more and more concerned with how much smaller our roster is getting. We are down to 69 players, and this is before any future industries…while Alabama, LSU, Florida and South Carolina have a full compliment of 85+. I want to believe with our favorable schedule this can be a magical year for the Dawgs, but the reality of our razor thing roster is setting in and I don’t see us able to run the 12 game table.
When Michael Adams finally goes away in 2013 (and any Dawg fan should know he is responsible for why we are so thin every year), hopefully his replacement will maintain a level of discipline that matches the rest of the elite SEC Programs and allows the Dawgs to get back to where we were from 2002-2007 and maybe finally get to a Nat’l Title one day.
